Notes & Octaves

How Did You Do?

If you did well, and you’re feeling confident, go ahead and continue with the lessons. If you would like to take the test again, you can. You can take the test as many times as you wish. I would suggest doing the test every day this week. Knowing the names of notes will bring more confidence to you as a musician.

Notes You May Already Know

Here is something to remember: when the octave key is pressed, the saxophone produces (in many instances) the same note an octave higher? For example:

  1. A low G is played with fingers 1,2,3 in the left hand.
  2. By simply adding the octave key, the high G is produced.
  3. The image below shows all the notes that produce the same note an octave higher, just by adding the octave key!
