Lesson 38 Exercises HB

Jeff

Exercise #1

This exercise focuses on the upbeat eighth rest. This may seem difficult, but it’s actually not too complicated. It means that all the notes you’ll be playing are on the down beat- something we’ve been doing since day 1.

Lesson 38 Exercise #2 take 2

Hint: When there’s an 8th note downbeat and an upbeat 8th rest, it will sound the same as the following. Here’s the whole exercise written out.

Compared to quarter staccato

Exercise #2

This exercise focuses on the downbeat 8th rest and the upbeat 8th note. This will be a little more challenging, but the exercise is set up in a pattern to help you succeed. Having a difficult time? Listen to the audio and play along. You’ll do great!

Notice that the exercise is a G major scale
