  1. A rest marks a place of silence
  2. No sound should be heard during a rest

Counting The Quarter Rest

  1. Set your metronome to ♩=60
  2. Each click is equal to 1 quarter rest.
  3. There are 4 clicks/rests per measure in our example
  4. Each time the metronome clicks, it’s a new rest
  5. Count 1,2,3,4 while looking at the image below
