The Quarter Rest

  • A rest marks a place of silence
  • No sound should be heard during a rest

Counting The Quarter Rest

  • Set your metronome to ♩=60
  • Each click is equal to 1 quarter rest.
  • There are 4 clicks/rests per measure in our example:

  • Each time the metronome clicks, it’s a new rest
  • Count 1,2,3,4 while looking at the image below
