F Major Scale

Jeff

Now that you know the F major scale, it’s time to learn it on the saxophone. Here is what I would suggest for learning this scale:

  1. Play the scale without looking at it. Don’t worry; it’s not too much to remember as long as you know the alphabet and where to insert the Bb.
  2. If suggestion 1 does not work for you, then try the following (recommended)

Play at ♩=60 (Play one note per click on the metronome)

  1. Name the first 3 notes of the F major scale, up and down : F G A G F
    • Play F G A G F on your saxophone 5 times
  2. Name the 4th note- Bb
    • Play F G A Bb A G F 5 times
  3. Name the 5th note –C
    • Play F G A Bb C Bb A G F 5 times
  4. Name the 6th note –D
    • Play F G A Bb C D C Bb A G F 5 times
  5. Name the 7th note –E
    • Play F G A Bb C D E D C Bb A G F 5 times
  6. Name the 8th note –F
    • Play F G A Bb C D E F E D C Bb A G F 5 times
