Before we play the next piece, I would like to briefly discuss accidentals. At this point we are using the sharp (♯), flat (♭), and natural (♮) signs. We have not discussed the natural sign in depth but it does serve a purpose. Here are some rules for accidentals in general:

  • Once an accidental is applied, that accidental continues through the remainder of the measure
  • Once the bar is finished, the accidental is no longer is in affect
  • Example:
