Dr. Jeffrey Cunningham

In the year 2000, Dr. Jeffrey Cunningham began teaching private saxophone lessons, instructing beginners and college students. During that time he opened his own studio, and also taught at the University of Missouri- Kansas City, Brigham Young University, Missouri Southern State University, and the University of Central Missouri.


He has worked as a clinician and adjudicator in the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Arizona; he continues to be active in this role today. Along with teaching, Jeff has presented original research on the saxophone to the North American Saxophone Alliance-regional conference.


Jeff earned his Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, and a Master of Music (M.M.) from Arizona State University, both in Saxophone Performance. His Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Jazz Studies was earned at Brigham Young University and he has had the benefit of studying with artists such as Joseph Wytko, Bobby Watson, Tim Timmons, Ray Smith, and Ernie Small.


In his free time, Jeff enjoys camping, hiking, travel, eating fun food, keeping up with his favorite sports teams, and watching movies with his wife and two young daughters.
